Strength through Trials
WEEK 18
Victory Through Perseverance
"No great thing is created suddenly." Epictetus
Epictetus reminds us that anything noble requires time, training, and endurance. Character is not formed instantly. Strength is not created by one decision, but by many repeated decisions made under pressure. A great soul is built gradually: through restraint, patience, failure, correction, and renewed effort. This truth protects us from impatience. We do not need to become complete in one day; we need to continue the work faithfully. Small acts of discipline, repeated over time, become a life of strength.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7
Paul's words describe a life completed with faithfulness. Victory is not only found in dramatic moments, but in finishing the race God has placed before us. To fight the good fight means to remain faithful through temptation, disappointment, fatigue, and opposition. It means refusing to abandon the path when it becomes difficult. The Christian life is not measured by ease, but by endurance in love, truth, and faith. The crown belongs not to the one who never struggled, but to the one who kept the faith until the end.
Faithfulness and greatness are both formed over time. Paul speaks of finishing the race, and Epictetus reminds us that nothing great is built suddenly. Keep going. Perseverance is the path by which strength becomes victory.
