The Heart of Prayer
WEEK 20
Surrender
“Do not seek for events to happen as you wish, but wish them to happen as they do happen.” — Epictetus
Peace increases when we stop demanding that reality conform to our preferences. Acceptance allows us to respond wisely rather than becoming frustrated by circumstances beyond our control. Stoic philosophy teaches that serenity begins with accepting what cannot be changed.
“Not my will, but Yours be done.” — Luke 22:42
Surrender is one of the deepest expressions of faith. Jesus demonstrated complete trust in the Father's will even in the face of suffering. Surrender does not mean passivity; it means trusting God's wisdom above our own understanding and accepting His guidance with humility.
Faith trusts God's will, while wisdom accepts reality. Together they lead to deeper peace and resilience.
